Project: Cardinal Classics Rebrand

Brief: Rebrand WalMart’s exclusive classic games line.

Result: Retention in WalMart’s $15M/year business

The Challenge:

  • Walmart asked for a rebrand after seeing Target’s Game Gallery rebrand.

  • Consumer testing said product photography is too generic.

  • Treat rebrand as a brand update, looking like an evolution of the previous styleguide.

The Approach:

  • Explore dynamic, atypical photography to catch the consumer’s eye on shelf.

  • Use a black and silver color scheme to further differentiate from Target’s Game Gallery.

  • Modernize fonts throughout branding.

The Result:

  • WalMart’s business was retained, equally ~$15M in sales
